The students learned that although most of us are excited for the holidays, sadly, for many people it's not a happy time. They also learned that statistics show the Holiday Seasons are the most dangerous time of the year for drug-alcohol related fatalities and suicide, as well as people who struggle with stress, anxiety, and depression.
They made a point to talk to people on campus and had them make a pledge to be safe and/or help others be safe during this holiday season. They cut strips of construction paper, had people make their pledge on it, they then laminated it by hand with clear tape, and created a Christmas Chain that they draped on the front fence for everyone to see. They then created a Banner for all to see and be reminded of this which they hung on the front office building.
