This year, Pahoa High and Intermediate School is focusing on attendance and wish for everyone to "Strive for Less than 5". The Challenge 5 initiative is about keeping kids in school and we are asking for your help. Help your students be absent no more than five times in the school year. Students who are chronically absent (missing 9% or more of school) have difficulty keeping up with their classes. Studies also show that students who have fewer absences in school are more likely to finish college quicker. This can save thousands of dollars! So please help us to help your student.
Members of the U.S. Women’s Volleyball Team – Courtney Thompson, Tamari Miyashiro, Alizha Glass, Kristin Hildebrand and Lauren Paolini – sing the Pahoa High School’s alma mater after giving a presentation to students in the school’s gym. The players visited Pahoa as part of a state wide Give It Back Foundation Tour to promote healthy competition and generosity.
