The Hawai'i Gas Presents Localicious® Recipe and Video Contest is a free contest open to students in grades 4-12. The contest is a fun cooking competition where kids compete by submitting an original recipe using a locally-grown, raised or caught product. A panel of judges review the recipes and select the top three (3) recipes from two grade categories: Grades 4-8 and 9-12.
As an incentive, we will be giving a $100 gift card to those teachers that have 100% of their students submit a qualified recipe to us. The contest runs from now through September 21, 2020. The six (6) finalists will be notified by October 1 and will then be invited to submit a three to four-minute video showcasing their skills in the kitchen, presentation flare, and the final dish. Each finalist will receive a $50 gift card to Foodland to purchase ingredients. Celebrity chefs will review the videos and determine the winners in each category. Cash scholarships will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in grades 9-12 and culinary-themed prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in grades 4-8. There will also be a surprise prize given as an overall People’s Choice Award. Winners will be announced at a live virtual event on November 7, 2020.
