The Hawaii State Department of Education (“HIDOE”) is in the process of reviewing and revising its administrative rules that govern the work of its Civil Rights Compliance Office (“CRCO”). CRCO's primary function is to ensure the safety of HIDOE students from conduct based on their protected class status. These updates will involve changes to the Civil Rights and Complaint Procedure (Hawaii Administrative Rules, Chapter 41).
HIDOE is seeking feedback on a preliminary draft of this revised administrative rule. There will be other feedback opportunities, including during the formal administrative rules promulgation process. Input received will be presented to the Superintendent for her consideration and potentially incorporated into the proposed revisions.
