Pahoa girls ride defense to first win

Pahoa’s opening statement on opening night was defense.
The Daggers didn’t register a scorer in double-figures Tuesday night, but they also didn’t allow Kealakehe to reach double-digits until the second half, winning 26-18 at their gym to start the BIIF girls basketball regular season.
Allyssa Padilla and Raynah Berinobis each scored seven points for Pahoa, which shut out the Waveriders in the first quarter and led 12-3 at halftime.
Pamela Kalavi did the bulk of the scoring for Kealakehe, finishing with 12 points.
