Middle School students in Ms. Chose’s STEAM class worked on an engineering building activity with index cards and scotch tape. Students were challenged to build a structure with only 20 index cards and scotch tape that holds the weight of a box weighing about 3 lbs. 1 group placed a stack of math textbooks on top of the index cards. The STEAM course is a new class offered to Pahoa Middle School students this school year.
Aloha Students, Parents and Guardians,
Here are supplies needed in my classes. This is just a list of items. You don't have to use Amazon, but I used it for convenience. If you can find items for less money elsewhere, please feel free to buy it there. Here is the url (case sensitive):
This is a basic lists of supplies necessary for learning and interacting in each of my classes. Classes I teach are Grade 7 and 8 ELA, Oral Communications and NewsWriting (2nd semester) Supplies should be ready to use on the first day of class. Supplies requested are being used in the classroom by your own child and not for my own use or for other students. I require only 3 ziploc bags to help students organize their materials in class. You don't have to use Amazon to purchase these items. I highly recommend finding best prices to save money. Please do not expect teachers to supply basics.
The WIDA ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 English language proficiency test will be administered to all grades seven through twelve English Language Learner (ELL) students. This test is for students whose first language is not English. It measures the child’s ability to use the English language and specifically identifies how well the child is reading, writing, speaking, and listening in English. This test also allows school to monitor individual student progress on an annual basis, a requirement of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
The testing dates for our school are:
February 2 – Test Demo – How to Take the Test
Sample Test Items (Reading & Speaking, Listening and Writing)
February 14, 15, 16 – ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 Online
Let us support our ELL students!
