Aloha Students and Families,
Mahalo for signing up for our distance learning program (DLP). This information meant to serve as a guide to help you navigate this program. All parents of students in DLP must sign a permission form. Please call our Vice Principal Pratt #313-4376 if you have any questions.
Step 1: Pick up a laptop from Pahoa High and Intermediate School (PHIS) unless you have your own.
Step 2: Know your PHIS email and password. You will use this to access your google classroom. If you don’t know your username or password, please call our office and ask for the tech department #313-4300
Step 3: Starting August 17, 2020 to August 20, 2020, we will begin with odd classes (periods 1, 3, 5,7, 9). During the week, log onto your odd google classes and complete the assignments. After August 20, 2020, we will be doing full distance learning per State directives.
Step 4: While we are on full distance learning (no face to face), teachers will have daily office hours. You can join them LIVE through google meets. Check your email or google classroom for office hours information. If you do not see this information, email your teacher.
Step 5: As you work on your assignments, when you click ‘turn in’, teachers will be notified you submitted a lesson.
Step 6: The following week, starting August 24, 2020, will be an even schedule. You will
have assignments in your google classroom for your even classes (periods 2, 4, 6, 8, 10).
Complete the assignments and click ‘turn in’.
Repeat the steps above each week rotating odd week, even week, odd week, even week.
Internet: If you have internet access, distance learning will be fairly smooth.
NO Internet: If you don’t have internet access, you will need to drive your student to campus once a week between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm to the h-bldg. parking lot. Stay in your car and bring your school computer. Your computer will connect to the internet. Download all of your lessons and assignments from your google classroom. Once downloaded, you can go home and work on it. The following week, when you go back to the campus parking lot, as soon as your computer connects to the internet, your lessons will automatically update and load into google classroom. As long as you clicked ‘turn in’ when you were working offline, the assignments will ‘turn in’. Hours after 3:00 pm, you can access the internet by parking on the perimeter of the school.
EXTRA HELP: If you need help with any of the assignments make sure to check in with your teachers. If you miss their live google meets office hours, email or call them for help. We are here to support you and want you to succeed! :)
Attendance is taken weekly. Students, you will see an attendance assignment in your google classroom for every class. You must complete this for odd classes during odd weeks and for even classes during even weeks. Doing this weekly will count as your attendance.
Grab and Go Meals: Bring your student with their school ID to our upper parking lot near the cafeteria to pick up breakfast 8am - 8:30am and lunch 12pm - 12:30pm.
